Cloud WAN based Cloud Integrated Network Service

Cloud WAN based Cloud Integrated Network Service

Overview

Cloud WAN is a service that provides Multi-point N:N connections between domestic and overseas Samsung Cloud Platform Regions or user sites, based on traffic usage, by leveraging the global network backbone infrastructure.

Users can configure various network topologies they need through Cloud WAN, and within Cloud WAN, networks can be logically separated into segments for management and operation according to business purposes.

Additionally, it provides a multi-path option on a per-segment basis, offering a default Premium transmission path for Samsung Cloud Platform for Samsung and enabling some traffic to use a cost-effective Standard transmission path.

  1. Apply for a Cloud WAN Network on a per-project basis.
    • Create purpose-specific segments in the Cloud WAN Network, then select the locations where domestic and international services will be used.
  2. Configure a Transit Gateway to connect multiple VPCs and set routing and firewall policies needed for communication between VPCs and between VPCs and On-premises networks (planned for 2026).
  3. Attach a Transit Gateway to the Cloud WAN Segment to configure the communication path for infrastructure resources in the VPC. (Planned for 2026)
  4. When communication is required from the on-premises Data center, connect a dedicated line to the Cloud WAN backbone.
    • Attach Site Connect to the Cloud WAN backbone segment and enter the required network settings on the Customer Router.
  5. Configure Segment Sharing to enable connections between different Segments.
    • Available after request and approval in the Samsung Cloud Platform Console
  6. When specific traffic needs to use the Standard transmission path, enter a multi‑path rule. (Planned for 2026)

Use Cases

Transit Gateway Peering configured as Multi-point between Inter Regions

Connect the configured Transit Gateway to Transit Gateways in other Regions/Projects and to the Cloud WAN backbone in a full mesh or partial mesh topology.

  • Configuring routing provides network communication that can effectively accommodate various application communication types.

Connecting customer network and VPC network across Inter Regions

Regardless of the location of the Region where the customer network is configured, multiple Samsung Cloud Platform VPCs and customer network devices are connected via the Cloud WAN backbone.

  • You can assign private IP addresses used in the existing network to Samsung Cloud Platform resources, allowing the customer’s system to be effectively extended to the Cloud.

Multi-segment based Site to Site Global WAN communication

By integrating the Cloud WAN backbone, which spans more domestic and international communication hubs than the number of Samsung Cloud Platform regions, with the customer’s network equipment, we provide reliable, cloud‑based communication between customer sites and offer logically separated segments for each business unit, enabling efficient management of complex enterprise networks.
