Cloud WAN-based Cloud Integrated Network Service

Cloud WAN-based Cloud Integrated Network Service

Overview

Cloud WAN is a service that provides multi-point N:N connections between Samsung Cloud Platform regions or user locations, both domestically and internationally, based on traffic usage. It utilizes a global network backbone infrastructure.

Users can configure various network topologies through Cloud WAN and logically separate networks into segments for management and operation purposes.

Additionally, Cloud WAN offers a multi-path option, providing a default premium transmission path for Samsung Cloud Platform, as well as the ability to use a cost-efficient standard transmission path for some traffic.

  1. Apply for a Cloud WAN network by project unit.
    • Create segments based on usage within the Cloud WAN network and select the location of domestic and international services.
  2. Configure a Transit Gateway to connect multiple VPCs and set up routing and firewall policies for communication between VPCs and on-premises networks. (Planned for 2026)
  3. Attach the Transit Gateway to the Cloud WAN segment to set up communication paths for infrastructure resources within the VPC. (Planned for 2026)
  4. Connect a dedicated line from the on-premises data center to the Cloud WAN backbone when communication is necessary.
    • Attach a site connection to the Cloud WAN backbone segment and enter the necessary network settings on the customer router.
  5. Configure segment sharing settings to connect different segments.
    • Available for use after requesting and approving on the Samsung Cloud Platform console
  6. Enter multi-path rules if you need to use a standard transmission path for specific traffic. (Planned for 2026)

Use Cases

Inter-Region Multi-Point Configuration with Transit Gateway Peering

Connect pre-configured Transit Gateways to other region/project Transit Gateways and Cloud WAN backbones in a full mesh or partial mesh form.

  • By setting up routing, you can provide effective network communication for various application communication types.

Inter-Region Connection between Customer Network and VPC Network

Link customer networks and Samsung Cloud Platform VPCs through the Cloud WAN backbone, regardless of the region/location of the customer network.

  • Assign private IP addresses used in existing networks to Samsung Cloud Platform resources, allowing customers to effectively extend their systems to the cloud.

Multi-Segment-Based Site-to-Site Global WAN Communication

Provide reliable communication between customer sites through the Cloud WAN backbone, connecting customer network devices and domestic/international communication points.

  • Offer logically separated segments for each business unit, enabling efficient management of complex business networks.

Pre-Requisites

None

Limitations

  • Only one Cloud WAN can be created per project, and each Cloud WAN can have up to 5 segments.
  • Up to 20 multi-path option rules can be applied.
